CEO - Daniel T. Matthews, M.D.

Translating laboratory research into clinical applications, Dr. Daniel Matthews has pioneered the successful treatment of childhood limbic rage syndrome by diagnosing and treating it as a seizure disorder rather than a learned or behavioral disorder. Dr. Matthews is national medical director for the Comprehensive Neurobehavioral Group at Universal Health Services (UHS).

Using the quantitive electroencephalograph (qEEG) for deep or limbic brain analysis, in addition to routine EEG and appropriate anti-seizure medications, Dr. Matthews has stabilized and eliminated pathological aggression in 85 to 90 percent of the 5,000 children he has treated in the last 10 years. Since the early 1970's, his research in specialized assessments and medical stabilization of pathological violence as well as learning the language dysfunctions has led to his development of new therapeutic procedures which have become national standards of care for violent children.

Before joining UHS in 1995, Dr. Matthews was medical director for psychiatric treatment centers in Texas and North Carolina, and maintained a private practice. Previously, he was clinical associate professor at Duke University School of Medicine, and consulted with North Carolina state agencies that dealt with violent youth.

Dr. Matthews, who is board certified, received his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed two years of residency in general psychiatry followed by two residency years in child psychiatry at the University of Texas Medical Branch hospital.

His research on aggressive and violent children and adolescents has been presented nationally and internationally at major psychiatry and behavioral conferences, and published in leading psychiatric journals. He is a member of the American Neuropsychiatric Association and the Titus Harris Medical Society.

Larry Fisher, Ph.D.

Dr. Fisher, a licensed psychologist in Texas, is Director of Neuropsychology at UHS Neurobehavioral Systems, a division of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS). He obtained his doctoral degree from New York University in 1969 and is Board Certified in Neuropsychology. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and book chapters in the field of neurobiological disorders. He is currently an adjunct faculty member at the University of Texas in Austin. For the past eight years Dr. Fisher has specialized in the treatment of violent juveniles and has lectured in the field of corrections, education, and mental health on that subject. He has conducted research into the etiology and management of pathological rage behavior. He also consults with psychiatric hospitals nationally to develop treatment programs specializing in violent youth.
